Grandson of the Olympic mare Carlina. Ridden by Pius Schwizer, Carlina was one of the world's best show jumpers for many years. The Holsteiner mare won the World Cups of Oslo and Helsinki back to back in 2011, was second in the Grand Prix competitions of Aachen, Zurich, Dublin and Doha, second in the 2010 World Cup Final in Geneva and third in the 2012 final in 's-Hertogenbosch. Sire Pegase van 't Ruytershof is a son of Comme Il Faut and a grandson of Cartani, from the same dam as Jilbert van 't Ruytershof, and is thus closely related to Emerald.
